Northrup Elementary School in partnership with East Los Angeles College (ELAC) has opened the GO Northrup College and Career Readiness Center. GO Northup otherwise known as “Great Outcomes” for Northrup students will provide students and parents the opportunity to explore and deepen college and career knowledge and skills.
Asst. Supt. of Educational Services Gary Gonzales, Ed.D., said, “The opening of the GO Northrup College and Career Readiness Center is a collaborative effort between ELAC and AUSD. This effort demonstrates AUSD commitment to prepare students to become positive contributors and leaders of the 21st Century." The center’s grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony was on Feb. 27 with many prominent guests in attendance and the ELAC Husky mascot.
The ultimate goal of the GO Northrup College and Career Readiness Center is to ensure all students are on target for college and career readiness before entering high school. Early awareness, knowledge and skills that lay the foundation for academic rigor and social development are necessary for college and career readiness.
ELAC student ambassadors will help students optimize their potential and reach their long-term college and career goals. "This partnership will provide valuable resources to our students and parents that will enable them to access information on college and career requirements while getting the chance to interact with actual college students," Principal Stacie Colman-Hsu said.
