ALHAMBRA COUNCIL PTA
WELCOME AUSD PARENTS AND FAMILIES
Founded in 1919, the Alhambra Council Parent Teacher Association is your PTA. It consists of 14 elementary/middle schools and high school PTA’s within the Alhambra Unified School District. PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
You do not need to volunteer to support the PTA, but we can achieve so much more when we work together. Studies show that a child’s academic success and self-esteem increase when parents become involved with the school. There are many opportunities to contribute, so please check with your school to see how you can make an impact. By collaborating with AUSD, school site administrators, teachers, staff, as well as parents and families, we can enhance the educational experience and the lives of all our students.
Joining your school’s PTA is easy; simply pay your annual dues by visiting jointotem.com and selecting your school site. By becoming a member, you will be connected to an amazing network of dedicated individuals with the common goal of helping our students and families succeed in school and in life. There’s no better way to learn what’s happening at your child’s school. The PTA gives you a voice and a forum where suggestions to make positive changes at your child’s school are welcome and heard.
Your school’s PTA hosts and sponsors many exciting activities and events throughout the year to support family engagement and student learning. These include assemblies, field trips, and other supplemental educational programs. Attend a meeting and get involved, whether to just gather information, connect with your community, or learn about volunteer opportunities.
One national program sponsored by our PTAs is the National Reflections Art program https://www.pta.org/home/programs/reflections where your children are encouraged to submit artistic interpretations of the annual theme in the categories of visual arts, photography, film production, music composition, literature and dance choreography. The competition allows students to explore, develop, and express their artistic literacy, boosting student confidence in the arts and in all areas.
Alhambra Council PTA also hosts an Annual Founders’ Day Award Dinner & Silent Auction to recognize the amazing individuals and organizations for their outstanding service to children and youth in our community, going above and beyond what is asked of them. Through the generosity of many at the event, we are able to grant scholarships to graduating seniors from Alhambra High School, Mark Keppel High School and San Gabriel High School.
Contact your school to learn about all the exciting PTA activities and events being planned and offered. Make time to attend a PTA meeting either in person or via Zoom and get involved. When we join forces, the future is better and brighter for everyone!
